TARDIS
The T.A.R.D.I.S.
The T.A.R.D.I.S. – Training and Recreation Delivered in Situ is an outcome of an independent evaluation carried out in June 2004 which identified 60% of organisation membership lived in Cumnock and surrounding smaller villages.
The vehicle was launched in June 2006 with funding from The Camelot Foundation; Scottish Government Seedcorn Fund and A.D.A.T. (now known as the Alcohol Drug Forum) with an aim to provide a mobile internet hotspot in rural communities.
Activated by sophisticated software, a satellite on the roof of the van streamlines 4mg wireless broadband to eight laptops in the comfortably seated rear of the van. Full disabled access; heating and lighting; poster display area and T.V./A.V. for issue-based workshops and recreational use, the T.A.R.D.I.S. is embraced by young people during evenings and weekends and doubles up as a mobile classroom for use by the Inspiring Scotland Team.
