yipworld.com is an East Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership Project supported by a range of agencies including East Ayrshire Council.The main aim of the Project is to provide a safe warm environment for young people from age 8 up to and including 25 years of age.
Facilities
The Project has become the Hub of the youth community, but we involve parents/carers and members of the public as much as possible. The Cybersuite houses twelve internet linked computers and a large television with Sky Digital viewing. Our café shown below offers a range of healthy snacks etc. that contributes to the overall aim to encourage healthier lifestyles for all.
Tracey Campbell – Project Manager
I have been working at yipworld since it opened in April 2000.
I originally worked in the textile industry however in 1987 I decided to go to college to gain some qualifications as I was interested in working with young people full time. For 8 years I had been a sessional Youth Worker for the local authority and really enjoyed this.
I gained my HNC at Ayr College in 2000, the same year I took up the post of Project Worker at yipworld.
I enjoyed 3 years as a Project Worker, interacting with all age groups, facilitating school inputs for PSE programmes, liaising with partner agencies to provide opportunities for young people and generally having a great time within the Senior drop-in service.
In 2003 yipworld diverged into training and I was seconded to the post of Training Co-ordinator. In my 2 years in this post I developed the Project as a training agency. We gained SQA accreditation, British Computer Society accreditation and Learndirect branding as well as ILA status. My role was to ensure all the systems were in place to function as a successful training provider.
In October 2005 I successfully applied for the post of Project Manager. I have enjoyed this new challenge and continue to do so.
My time at yipworld has been enjoyable, educational and productive both on a personal and professional level. I have gained qualifications to support my role in the Project and continue to do so. We are a forward thinking Social Enterprise and take every opportunity to develop the staff that show commitment, loyalty, enthusiasm and innovation.
yipworld continues to grow and offer me more challenges which I embrace whole heartedly.
