Membership Contract

This is a copy of the Contract & Rules every member, and their Parent/Guardian must sign and agree to.

• yipworld.com Internet Cafe is open to all young people aged 10 - 25 years living in the East Ayrshire South Authority (Cumnock and Doon Valley).
• To use the service you must become a member by completing the application form and agreeing to abide by the Membership Contract.
• Opening Times will include weekends and evenings, and will vary to suit school holiday periods. Members will be informed of any changes to the programmes.
• yipworld.com may be closed occasionally for special evenings and visits. Notice of these times will always be posted in advance.

• Free Internet Access.
• The opportunity to become involved in the Organisation and management of the cafe.
• The Right to be treated with respect and have your say and the Right to complain and be listened to.

Membership Contract

To become a member you must understand and agree to accept the following:

• Members are expected to treat themselves and others with respect. Bullying is not acceptable and nobody should be abused because of his or her ability, age, sex, religion, race or views.
• Members are expected to treat the building and equipment with respect. Damage and vandalism are not acceptable.
• Members are responsible for their own possessions and should respect the possessions of other people. It is not acceptable to steal or to bring stolen property into the Project at any time.
• Some information received via the Internet can be deemed to be criminal under Scots law. This can include sexually explicit or violent images. Under no circumstances should members deliberately access such sites.
• yipworld.com is a violence free zone, and bullying or threats of any kind will not be tolerated.
• yipworld.com is a drug and alcohol free zone. This means possessing, using, supplying or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on the premises will not be tolerated.

yipworld.com Internet Rules

• Never provide your name, home address, telephone number or school on the Internet.
• Never send anyone your picture, credit card or bank details.
• Never give your password to anyone. Not even a best friend.
• Never arrange to meet anyone in person without first agreeing it with your parent or carer. If they agree to the meeting they should be present when you meet that person for the first time and you should always arrange to meet in a public place.
• Never hang around in a chat room or an online conference if someone says or writes something that makes you feel uncomfortable or worried.
• Never respond to nasty, suggestive or rude e-mail or postings in Usenet groups. It is not your fault if you receive a message like this. If you do, tell a member of staff immediately.
• Always tell a member of staff if you see bad language or distasteful pictures while you are online.
• Always be yourself and do not pretend to be anyone or anything you are not.
• Always remember if someone makes you an offer that seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Remember, you are not responsible for the fact that any of the above are on the Internet. If you accidentally access any website dealing with any of the topics mentioned, please tell a member of staff immediately. If the site is illegal we can help take action against it.
